RLSS Swimming Pool Emergency Rescue Award (SPERA)

The Swimming Pool Emergency Rescue Award is designed for individuals who may need to respond to a swimming pool emergency, providing first aid and rescue support to lifeguards.  The award includes training in CPR, AED use, and first aid. A valid certification requires passing both a written assessment and practical demonstrations.  

Candidates must be over 16 years old and be able to:.

• Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool and be able to climb out of the pool unassisted (where the venue design permits). 
• Complete a written assessment and demonstrate your knowledge and skills in a practical assessment. 
• Attend 100% of the course.
